I enjoyed a great lunch several days ago at Chef's Table on the Post Road. As a frequent patron of their Westport location in the late 90's, I was hopeful the Fairfield location would live up to my memory. Dave Griffith and staff did not disappoint!

Fairfield's Chef's Table pairs a gourmet deli with a rock music-themed dining room. This may sound like an an unusual mashup, but it definitely works. The tables are the tops of roadie cases, there are album covers and memorabilia on the walls, and your favorite tunes play in the background. Later in the day you are likely to see some of Fairfield County's best local bands.

The menu includes salads, wraps, sandwiches and soups. There is also a great kid's menu and a breakfast selection (Hint: with free WIFI, Chef's Table is a great alternative to the diner for a breakfast meeting!). For the coffee drinkers there is a coffee bar. Also, Chef's Table has a selection of beers on tap.

For lunch, I had a Roast Beef sandwich with lettuce and tomato on Foccacia Bread. The sandwich was generous (thumbs up!) and had just the right amount of russian dressing.

I'll definitely be heading back soon, to grab a pint and listen to a local band.

I work right next door to Chef's Table in Fairfield. As I often work past 6PM at night, I am able to see, smell AND hear the sweet sounds eminating from Chef's Table.

Aside from the delicious food and coffee that I get EVERY morning…..they bring a sense of community and entertainment to downtown Fairfield that is essential for a small(er) downtown atomosphere.

I see people walking the sidewalks and stopping by the open front garage door at Chef's to catch a few musical bars from the band playing. When I see that kind of interest and excitement, especially in the children constrained to a stroller, I get goosebumps. Chef's Table is more than a dining establishment to downtown Fairfield, they are today's version of the lost drug store / soda shop.

They may not be dolling out medication but they are filling my prescription of "life in Fairfield". Smile
