Restaurant Review: Bodega Taco Bar

Have you noticed all the new restaurants popping up around town? Check out what we thought of our experience at Bodega.

The funky decor made for a great atmosphere.  We headed straight for the bar where there was plenty of seating. They have an extensive tequila menu and a nice selection of Mexican beer. We opted for fresh margueritas which we thought were perfect and that was after only having one. They offer a flight of tequila so you can sample the new and different brands on their menu.  If you go there look for us trying that!  :-)

Our server, Molly had extensive knowledge of the menu and suggested we start with chip, salsa & guacamole. The guac & salsa were great but the chips not so much. They were a bit oily and reminded us of the noodles you get in a chinese restaurant.  All around not so bad because chips are very fattening. :-(  Molly also recommended the brussel sprouts which were the best we’ve ever had. They are fried and then glazed with a sweet pineapple sauce.  You have got to try these brussel sprouts!

We had a selection of tacos, including fish & meat but not chicken, most prepared in soft toritillas and served family style. They all got thumbs up with the exception of the Americano, a ground ground beef version which did not live up to our expectations.

The Baha and the Gambas are delicious and are our favorites. You can also get any taco on a chopped salad  with the chips on the side. The Hangar steak version of this salad was very flavorful and also gets a thumbs up.

One of the downsides was that they only offered one dessert a choco flan.  It tasted only ok and it is not all that appealing to kids.

All around we had a great experience and are looking forward to going back. We anticipate that they will have to move to a bigger location sooner rather than later. See our ratings below.
