Help Wanted At Jennings Beach this Saturday

The Pavilion at Jennings Beach in Fairfield

Jennings Beach, Fairfield CT

Celebrate Earth Day by making a difference at the Jennings Beach Clean Up. Fairfield mom Lori Scala has organized a Beach Clean Up at Jennings beach tomorrow from 10:00am to noon.

Only a year and a half ago, Scala had no idea what the numbers on the bottom of her plastic bottles actually meant.  She was sending her daughter to school every day with a plastic bag full of pretzels, a yogurt container,  plastic spoon, and a Poland spring mini water bottle. Back then, she had no idea that these containers could have such a negative impact on our environment.

Today Lori is on the PTA green team, Fairfield’s Earth DayCommittee and the sole organizer of the Jennings Beach Cleanup.

Interestingly, Lori attributes her new found green activism to her involvement with Viridian Energy a supplier of discount energy that comes from green sources.  As she was helping her family and friends save money on their electric bills, Lori noticed what Viridian was doing as a company. It seems that this organization is one that practices what they preach.  They organize trips for associates to Africa to install solar panels in villages without electricity, plant trees in the Amazon and reduce the amount of carbon emissions by millions of pounds.

Lori says “I was still only beginning to understand.  Now, it was time to make a difference in my own life as well as my children’s. We all need to pitch in and make the world a better place.”

April 23rd from 10-12

Joining her will be a local Daisy troop, Dog owners, The Beach Community and Snappy Green.
The event is sponsored by Save the Sound and Viridian Energy
