My iPhone 4 trouble

Will I ever get an iPhone 4?

July 1: Receive an email from Apple. My order is on hold because of an issue with AT&T setting up the account. Email advises to call AT&T. I spend 30 minutes on the phone with AT&T. It is determined that two phone numbers have been set up. Must call Apple to cancel one of the accounts. I call Apple. After 20 minutes of Apple’s insane hold music, a friendly lady picks up and goes over the order. She can’t figure out why there is a hold on my order. I give her the two phone numbers AT&T gave me. She doesn’t see anything. So she calls AT&T to resolve the issue and we all conference call together. AT&T rep sees the hold and tells us that he can’t cancel one of the phone numbers, but since I was approved for one of the accounts it should trigger Apple’s system to release the order tomorrow. Apple rep tells me to check system tomorrow morning for status. Apple consumes 50 minutes of my day on the phone.I learn how to type with one finger.

July 2: Order hasn’t shipped. Supposed to leave for a long weekend in Boston at 11am. Call Apple at 10:20 to check order status. Spend 35 minutes with Apple. iPhone is still on hold. AT&T is holding the order, presumably because there are still two accounts in my name and ss#. Then I spend one hour 54 minutes with AT&T (last 1/2 hour or so with Apple conferenced in). I ask to speak to a supervisor, but no one is available, so Apple rep continues to work with me. In the end, the Apple rep leads me to a Terms & Conditions page on the Apple site. Once I agree to these Terms, my order will be released she says. I arrive at the page, but the page says Terms aren’t available to me because my order is on hold. I try several times, but no luck. Rep says she can forward Terms to me via email. I don’t receive them within minutes. Wife is steaming because we are now several hours late for leaving on vacation. Rep tells me that the email should arrive within 24 hours. Once I ok that email, the iPhone ships one business day later. BTW – During the time I am on the phone with AT&T and Apple today, I eat a second breakfast, finish packing for the weekend, take a shower, eat lunch, pack the car, upload 200 photos to my GPS and listen to my wife go from relaxed and happy to stressed out because I am still trying to sort this out. Arrive in Boston hours late. All plans for the day are shot.
