BB (before break) I walked to school with the young HeyFairfields. It was a beautiful morning. You know, birds singing, daffodils blooming, neighbors with smile and a kindly hello.
On the way back to the homestead, a lovely young lady and her pooch jogged by. Another sign of spring. I was about 5 houses away from ours and noticed the dog decided to relieve himself and leave a deposit on our lawn. The blonde runner, being on a leash, stopped, pulled out a bag and picked up the poop. Thank you!!! But what happened next was vexing. She walked over to our mailbox and placed the bag of waste in front of our mailbox ?!? I was too far away to say anything, and wasn’t about to run. I couldn’t believe it. Why on earth would you put this in front of the mailbox?
Is this gift for our hard-working public servant that reliably brings our mail everyday or my family? Or is it just plain short-sidedness and a lack of common sense?
A photo of the present….

I’m curious , did she come back later after her jog to pick it up? Maybe she didn’t want to run with stinky poop in her hand
I’ve seen people do this at the dog park.
Wow–they left it for you??! That’s crazy! I have chased someone down the street (at 6:30 in the morning, no less) to clean up their dog’s poop from my lawn. I love the fact that our neighborhood attracts a ton of pedestrians and their dogs, but seriously, clean up after them! Or I might turn into one of those people that sits in their front yard shaking my fist, “You d*mn kids, get off my lawn!!”
The weird thing about this is I think she thought she was cleaning up after her dog! If she did this at my house, where else has she left presents?
@betty Good question. Not sure if she did come back. I’m not a dog person, had no idea people do that.
That is just unbelievable!!! As a dog owner I find it offensive! If you are running or walking with your dog and they do their business its your business as their parent to carry it home.
Well said JoAnne. I’ve also read that it’s not good for the dog to jog with a runner. Not sure why.
I’ve had the exact same thing happen. Wasn’t a runner but I’ve found presents by our mailbox, too.
That’s pretty bad, I would not be happy. Years ago I watched someone scoop their dogs poop and place it into a flower pot next to the mailbox across the street. Cant say I’ll ever understand that one either… its not exactly fertilizer!
I am a runner with my dog and might have been that runner that drops the bags of poop by your door, but I will have you know I always make sure to swing by and pick up the poop later in the day. It is horrible to run with poop in your hand and I don’t want to just leave it. If I leave it in the bag, by the curb then I will be able to notice it easily as I drive by. I am so sorry, but please know I am conscious of the poop and don’t like it when people leave poop in my yard.
b – I give you kudos for taking ownership, even if you are not sure it was you. That takes stones. Thanks for standing up, consider it water under the bridge
wow- typical fairfielder- rude, lacking self-awareness, entitlement issues. I could go on and on. I don’t get why you guys are surprised. Most of you natives have horrible manners and seem to think that no one else matters. I wish I could leave this dreadful place but unfortunately my spouse has a good job here….arrrgh…and in this economy oh well. But I digress- Look, you like it here, you are all to some degree stepping on each other’s toes..get over yourselves. and deal, it could be a lot worse
