Ok, Doug, no argument from me on this point. I will also certainly grant you that the RTM in our neighborhood is Democrats, but, as someone who lives in the neighborhood, there is actually a decent mix of Democrats and Republicans. Betsy Browne lives in Stratfield. Jim Baldwin lives in Stratfield. I think this is a good thing. It makes for some interesting conversations. Does the neighborhood tend to be more Democrat though? Probably.

Thanks for reading!

Not to mention that Stratfielders tend to be sensible, tolerant Democrats who believe in investing in our town.

My "neighborhood"!! What a wonderful write-up! I'm only a hop-skip-jump from the former IGA (and since I lived here all my life, formerly Gran Central Market) and Stratfield School (my grade school alma mater!)...a few changes in the "center" of the '4 corners' but the friendliness of the people are still the same, and yes, a nice variety style of homes too I might add.

I remember when:
The Bagel was formerly a frozen yogurt joint (and I'm sure other establishments too previously)
Where Maione's is now, there was Video World
People's Bank was only a dinky little building that got demolished and made
into a new parking lot for the larger People's Bank in the present day
the IGA was formerly Gran Central Market when I was younger
Dragon 168 (YUMMY Chinese take-out) was formerly a take out pizza joint

I recall going to Owen Fish Park (on Stratfield Rd) and Lincoln Park (over by Euclid
Ave neck of the woods).....and of course our 'hood has its own fire station (Rescue 15).

Ah yes, Brooklawn....never been in the CC but I've sledded down their golf courses many times in the winter as a kid, and skidded on black ice into a tree going up Cornell Rd. to FHS (now Ffld Warde) a week before Christmas my senior year.

Oh yes, and where Cambridge Manor is now, Stratfield Farms was there....all locally grown produce!

Tony,

As a Stratfielder of the northern variety, I gotta say you have really captured the whole breadth and scope of what we can also be comfortable calling "Stratfield Village"-- which by any definition is in my humble opinion the best "big neighborhood" in our great town of Fairfield!
