Bandtogether - Concert For Haiti at the FTC, January 30th
Connecticut State Representative Tony Hwang, Miles Marek, Executive Director of FTC, along with co-founders of Band Together CT, Jerry Vigorito and Rob Fried, will host an awareness concert to raise much needed money for the American Red Cross Haitian Earthquake Relief, at the Fairfield Theatre Company in downtown Fairfield. All proceeds will go to Haitian Relief.
“Band Together CT’s Jerry Vigorito said his organization has raised over $400,000 for local charities to date. “We will have over 20 musicians, both local and national acts including blues legend Debbie Davies,” he said. “After receiving Tony Hwang’s call, in 48 hours we put together a complete show that usually takes two months to plan. We intend to play loud enough so that they will hear us in Haiti.”
“It will be a community awareness concert with great music and an important message of helping,” said Rep. Tony Hwang. “And best of all, it’s for a great and critical cause … helping people of Haiti overcome the natural devastation and human tragedy of the Haitian Earthquake. I hope that many community members join me and my friends on January 30th to help make a difference in Haiti.”
“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of support and compassion that people in our communities have shown for the work that Red Cross is doing to bring hope and help to Haiti,” said Dianne Auger, CEO of the American Red Cross Connecticut Chapter. “The situation is desperate, and aid is getting through. Monetary donations remain the best way to support relief efforts, and we are thankful to Representative Tony Hwang, Band Together and the Fairfield Theatre Company for holding this concert to raise much needed funds. Working together, we will ensure that the people of Haiti receive the support they so desperately need.”
