HeyFairfield Friday RoundUp

I’ve been a bit busy lately, and slacked off on the updates. Not like there isn’t anything interesting going on in these parts either!

The Fairfield Giants Pee Wee football team took top honors in the state last Sunday.

The Post Road finally got painted. But in an attempt to save money, the Connecticut DOT hired a bunch of kid’s they found at Bravo’s to do the work. If you haven’t seen their handywork, the video below is all you need.

The Conservation Commission held a public forum concerning the non-conservation of deer in town. A strange thing has happened, there is not enough space for all the deer. Sound familiar? I’m surprised no one has suggested housing the deer in portables. If they do approve the hunting, can we at least donate the venisen to Operation Hope?

And speaking of portables, I attended a Town Planning and Zoning meeting on Tuesday night at McKinley School. The proposed changes to the Stratfield School renovation plan was presented. This plan would allow the school to catch up to the growth TPZ has allowed over the past few decades, adding room for 100 or more students, getting rid of the “portables”, allowing the faculty to park on site, amongst other items. Naturally, neighbors of the school attended, those opposed and those in favor. Some members of the opposition brought well-crafted arguments, others brought vitriol. One opponent leaned over me to get in a few words with the Chairman of the Building Committee and called him an “asshole”. Good Stuff! Best free show in town those TPZ meetings.

Kate Daniello, a We The People member person activist (?) wants to know when the audit on the BOE budget will begin. Yeah, let’s get going on that! It’s been like 10 days since the new school board was sworn in, that clock is ticking. While were at it, are we going to audit the rest of the town’s budgets? And where is Santa already?

It seems that story I posted a few weeks ago about the Fairfield University columnist was prescient (I even scoopedMSM). It seems the student newspaper now has pending harassment charges. And Chris Surette just wishes the whole thing would go away. I expect that to happen about the same time H1N1 goes away.

Speaking of H1N1, would love to hear from readers if they are hearing about cases in their children’s schools? Please leave a comment, about any of this! Have a great weekend.
