I’m still digesting this news, and there is little detail about her reasoning for not seeking re-election.

It is interesting to note, that even though she was appointed Governor after John Rowland was removed from office after being found guilty of corruption charges, two years later she captured the most votes by any gubernatorial candidate in Connecticut state history. And, while some of her proposals and vetoes were widely criticized, she did manage to stay very popular with the people of Connecticut.

She may be ultimately remembered though, for being the governor that took the state from a $900m surplus, to a $6B shortfall in 3 years. That’s not fair, as the state legislature deserves equal blame, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the way her legacy is painted.
