The McKinley School PTA invites children and adults of all ages to join in a celebration of nations at the 4th Annual McKinley World’s Fair on Saturday, October 24. Children will experience the tastes, sights and sounds of over 30 countries from around the world through hands-on crafts, dance performances, singers, games, raffles and international cuisine.
The motto of McKinley School is “We Are Family”. “This event was designed to recognize and celebrate the wonderful cultural diversity of the families with students attending McKinley School.” reports Principal Dr. Dale Bernardoni.
An Olympic-style Parade of Nations is the highlight of the Opening Ceremonies in which McKinley children and parents, many dressed in the traditional costume of their country of origin, will carry international flags throughout the transformed gymnasium. Children will receive a “Passport to the World” with which they can travel to the many learning stations, each representing a different country. Children will also have an opportunity to participate in several traditional handmade crafts, while throughout the day a variety of ethnic singers, dancers and musicians will perform on stage for all to enjoy.
Dr. Bernardoni enthusiastically encourages the entire Fairfield community to attend the World’s Fair to take part in this rich cultural experience. “Members of the McKinley PTA have been planning this very special event for months. It was carefully designed to reflect the cultures represented in the neighborhoods surrounding the school as well as the entire Fairfield communtiy. The purpose of the Worlds’ Fair is to provide a fun as well as an educational and entertaining experience not only for McKinley families but also for families throughout the Fairfield area.”
An international food court featuring American, Asian, Latino, and Mediterranean lunch dishes, as well as an international food and bake sale. There will also be many fabulous raffle prizes to win for adults as well as children.
The McKinley World’s Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at McKinley Elementary School,
, Fairfield. Admission is $5 for children and $3 for adults.
