Has a someone helped you in Fairfield today? Pay it Forward.

This morning I met a friend of mine, Lisa at Owen Fish Park. Our objective was to talk about HeyFairfield, specifically it’s role in creating opportunities for Fairfield businesses. As is natural when I have these meetings, the discussion leads to things beyond the blog and into the Fairfield community. Today we started talking about how helpful and kind people in Fairfield can be, and then about “Paying it Forward”.

If you are not familiar with the concept, Pay it Forward is the simple act of repaying a good deed done to you, by doing a good deed for someone else. For instance, you may drop an item on the sidewalk and someone returns it too you. Later that day you see a mom in the checkout at Stop & Shop, and her baby drops a bottle. You pick it up and return the bottle to the baby, in a sense helping someone else out.

This is a simplified example, but you get the idea. Lisa and I were talking about some of the nice things people had done for us lately, that really made us feel like we lived in a great community. She told me a story of how she let a hurried dad go ahead of her in the express line, since he only had a bag of Hershey’s Kisses. He was so happy, he planted a kiss on her cheek!

So with that I decided HeyFairfield should start celebrating those acts of kindness, small and big, that locals have done to you. I’m creating a discussion section to capture these moments. You can be as descriptive or as general as you want to be. If you happen to know the person by name, you can leave it anonymous, or use their first name. It’s that simple.

Enjoy the weekend!
