A close friend of ours is considering moving to Fairfield from one of the other towns in the county. The town they live in is very well-regarded and is definitely upper-middle class. They are happy where they are, but feel they could be doing better here. And to be honest, I’m not at all surprised. This town has many things to offer. Then I thought I would put them in a blog post on HeyFairfield.com.
I’m going to keep it to 3 things. I hope you add your favorites in the comments section.
1) May – I love May in this town. Even though the weather is unpredictable, you can count on a lot of outdoor activities to shake off the winter blues. The Dogwood Festival, carnivals at Jennings Beach, the Memorial Day Parade and art festivals on the Town Green, to name a few.
2) Neighborhoods – The town is a patchwork of neighborhoods. And within each neighborhood are the lanes and cul-de-sacs that make the town unique. Sure other towns have neighborhoods and cul-de-sacs, but here in Fairfield, you are welcome in whatever neighborhood you venture into. Making the town feel like one great big neighborhood. Try it, ride your bike to other areas of town on a Saturday morning and you’ll see what I mean. People will great you like you lived next door.
3) If you don’t like something, you can make your opinion heard. Think of all the “coalitions” and grassroots groups that stand up and fight for what they believe in. You may not agree all the time, and maybe a few of those didn’t go your way, but we have an active populace that binds us together into a stronger community.
So what do you think? Put it in the comments!

Nicely put– and entirely true!

The North Stratfield Neighborhood!

I had a young couple call me from NYC last weekend looking to start a family and wanted to move to CT. They were looking at all the towns along the Metro-North line. I spent one whole day showing them Fairfield. The beaches, we stopped by the Dogwood Festival, we looked at where the new train station will be built (maybe). The final factor, the state education numbers and the quality of students that Fairfield produces. While showing them properties in various neighborhoods in Fairfield, I told them the story of how the Stratfield community was able to band together and keep a hometown grocery store and not have a chain store, they were sold. Keep a look out for your new neighbors Stratfield at the end of June.
