The Fairfield Citizen has posted a well-crafted editorial urging Fairfield residents to NOT sign a petition requesting a referendum to cut the 2010 Board of Education Budget by $2.5m.
I encourage you to read the editorial. In my mind, any further reductions to the school budget is irresponsible. Yes, these are hard times. I know firsthand, I’ve been unemployed nearly 6 months. Yes, the BOE budget is the largest line item in the town budget. But, what do you expect, we have more kids attending school each year. Yes, some of our administrators are paid well. They are a major reason our school system is as good as it is. That keeps people interested in moving to Fairfield.
No, that’s what I’ll be saying if someone asks me to sign the petition.

Fairfield Citizen – Referendum!
BTW – Does anyone know why the Citizen put this in the Sports Section?
