The Community Theatre needs your help today!

The Community Theatre Fairfield CT

I’m going to postpone my normal Monday post until tomorrow. I was forwarded the following letter from  Leo Redgate, Founder & President of the Community Theatre Foundation.

Dear Friends-
Due to a recent robbery and the overall costs to maintain the physical condition of the Community Theatre Foundation, we are in a desperate situation regarding our financial condition and need your help.
The Foundation has always tried to be a good friend to schools and organizations trying to raise money and have events. One of goals is to help as many people as we can…what we have a hard time doing is asking for help ourselves…but the      situation is so tough that we simply do not have the funds to pay large bills that are due as well as rent that is past due. We are confident that this is just a moment in time and with your help getting us through this rough patch…come summer we will be in much better shape. At that time we will also have completed our plans for a major renovation and start our Capital Campaign officially.
We are asking you to consider going to our website www.communitytheatrefoundation.org and make a contribution online.      Even though the website indicates that we accept American Express…we no longer do…but we take all other cards as you will see. So please do not try to use your AMEX card.
If we have done anything to help someone you know or a family member…please consider making a tax-free contribution as soon as you possibly can…it is critically important that it be accomplished immediately.
For over 7 years we have raised a total of $750,000 + for our community and the people who live in it…we don’t ask for credit or thanks…we just hoped that you would “pass it along” to someone else who needs your help.
Well…we need it.
Please forward this email to every single person you know and encourage them to make a donation…whether it is $25 or $2500 it is the numbers that matter. Every one of you can help…while making the donation is critical…so is emailing all your friends and including a litle note to educate them as to how we have made a difference.
We are not JUST a movie theatre and we hope our track record has proven that. Time is of the essence and we appreciate you taking the time to consider helping us.
Thank you very much.

I first moved to Fairfield as a young child 38 years ago. A lot of things have changed in this town, including the Community Theatre. Today’s version of the Community really exemplifies the marquee. The theatre, not only hosts great movies at low prices, but hosts many fundraising events for organizations from across the town. Fairfield would suffer a great loss if the Community were to close. Please consider helping out, however you can.
Best Regards,
Ed
