Going Green in your own Backyard

The Fairfield and Sasqua Garden Clubs together announce an Earth Day symposium, Going Green in your own Backyard, on April 22, 2009. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Southport Congregational Church, 524 Pequot Avenue, Southport, CT. Doors open at 6.30 p.m. and the symposium begins at 7.00 p.m.

The event will feature two well-known and dynamic speakers, Jay Feldman of Beyond Pesticides and Chip Osborne, of Osborne Organics. Each is a leader in the respective fields of organic lawn care and pesticide mitigation. Both men have pioneered the education of individuals, municipalities and state and federal agencies on the efficacy of organic lawn care practices and the hazards of pesticide use. Their presentations will be complemented by an exhibition showcasing related products and services.

The Fairfield and Sasqua Garden Clubs aim to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence and publications, and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.
